Production History
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow in Concert first appeared in fall 2004. Supported by the Lehi City Arts Council, producer-director Jayme Smith offered an original adaptation of the story designed for the Lehi City Chorale and Chamber Orchestra.
The 45-minute production features choir and orchestra through a completely underscored narration of Washington Irving's original story with a climactic visit from a live Headless Horseman. In addition to live orchestra, singers and narrator,
the performance also includes a Foley artist who interacts with the cast. Sleepy Hollow also provides a striking visual aspect with the choir and characters in full colonial costume pantomiming the action of the story.
The show's completely unique format (think Prairie Home Companion meets Lés Misérables) continues to delight a growing audience drawing patrons from all over Utah and surrounding states. The first of a future collection of classic literature in concert, Sleepy Hollow will be joined by other Stories in Concert including the 2009 production of Alice in Wonderland.
