The American Fork Arts Council presents The Legend of Sleepy Hollow in Concert in October 2008.
4th annual production provides new twists on and old tale and bolsters a growing Halloween tradition for Utah families.
AMERICAN FORK (June 2, 2008) - The 4th annual Stories in Concert™ production of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow presents the haunting tale of the Headless Horseman "in concert" under an outdoor canopy of music, theater and festival. Period costumes, games and hayrides adorn the preshow activities. As the Narrator unravels his historical yarn, the characters are buoyed by a film-like musical underscore inviting the listener to get lost in the Legend.
A "complete story-telling experience" Sleepy Hollow is designed for all ages; a refreshing option in an ever-growing world of information where suitable activities for "the whole family" seem to be in increasingly short supply. Mining the vast amount of entertainment opportunities available to the community one discovers as rare gems those family-friendly events that inspire, uplift and educate. Such a treasure lies in Sleepy Hollow.
Producer Jayme Smith and veteran director Courtney Knight, self-styled "story developers," say the magic of the Hollow lies in truly connecting with the story. Smith notes that some regard classic stories like the Legend as "old and dead, but there is something very much living inside these stories - humanity. Between the dusty covers lies the hearts of men and women who were just like us," and who, amongst conflict and struggle, must "choose a path [with influence] for good or for evil."
